How our figures are made
Where the product data comes from
Titles, pack counts, stated sizes, colours and piece dimensions are read from our product data feed. They are not retyped, so what you see is what the feed states. Where a field is missing we leave it out of the specification table rather than estimating it.
How the descriptions are written
We read our own product bullet points for facts, then write the page copy fresh. Material is only stated when a bullet actually announces a material, and a bullet that says a product is free of something is not read as containing it. That sounds obvious, and it is exactly the check that stops a cleaning sponge being described as made of glass just because its bullets mention cleaning glass.
Prices
Prices come from the same feed and carry the date of the update that produced them. The current set was updated 2026-08-08. Two rules govern them:
- If there is no buyable offer, we show no price at all. Not a stale one, not an estimate. Those items read "Currently unavailable" and stay on the site, because the product still exists.
- A figure that jumps implausibly between updates is rejected and the previous one kept, rather than published.
Of 165 items, 165 carried a price at the last update and 0 did not.
What we will not publish
- Ratings and review counts. We have no verified figures to publish, so we publish none and guess at nothing.
- Photography we cannot show honestly. Our product photography is 500 pixels square. We display it at or below that size rather than blowing it up into something soft. That is the reason this site leans on colour and type where a big retailer would reach for a full-width photograph.
- Anything we cannot show you in the product data. Where a fact is not in the feed, it does not go on the page and we do not invent one to fill the space.
Safety and health pages
Pages touching injury, medical devices or road safety carry a standing notice that they are information rather than advice, and they cite published guidance from national bodies. Every source was opened and read before it was cited, and the date of that reading is printed next to the link. The full list is here.
